General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to injuries of being struck by roof trusses: (A)One Watertower Plaza, Meridian, Idaho - On or about march 6, 2001 and at times prior thereto roof joists set in place by a forklift were not tack welded into place on both ends and bolted diagonal bridging was not installed before the forklift moved away, exposing employees to the hazards of being struck by falling roof joists. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure that the forklift does not release the load until the truss is properly tack welded. Note: Abatement certification required for this item.
