a.On or about August 7, 2002, throughout the shop, the employer used poly
vinyl
chloride pipe schedule 40 to transport compressed air, exposing employees
to the
hazard of exploding plastic pipe.
Among other methods, 3 feasible means of abatement would be:
1. An acrylonitrite butadiene styrene (ABS) pipe could bu used.
2. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe that is completely enclosed in a conduit
or
casing of sufficient strength to provide protection from external damage
and
deterioration.
3. Metal piping could be used.
