North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)facility; maintainer department - employee using monorail with hoist must stand under load. REFERENCE: ANSI B30.11 - 1998; 11-3.2.3 Moving the load (f) The operator should avoid carrying loads over people. NOTE: One feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to change out or equip the hoist with a motor that allows the operator to transport the load using electrical controls while standing away from the load.
