Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that a: The employer failed to maintain and operate the two Rotary Automotive Lifts as required by the ANSI/ALI (B153.1-1990) standard for automotive lifts: 1. Lift #2 did not have the manufacturers rated load capacity permanently marked on it. See section 6.2. 2. The manufacturer-provided warning labels for lift #2 were not attached to the lift and the Automotive Lift Institute publications, "Lifting it Right," SM01-1 and "Safety Tips," ST90 were not posted or made available for either lifts. See section 7.2.2. One feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazards, among others, is to follow the requirements of the ANSI/ALI ALOIM 2000 standards.
