Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being caught in the rotating parts of a pipe threading machine. The Ridgid pipe threading machine was not equipped with a momentary contact device/foot pedal switch as prescribed by the American National Standards, ANSI B208.1-1982 Section 4.4. A means of abatement would be to provide a properly guarded momentary contact device/foot pedal control switch as required by American National Standards Institute (ANSI)B208.1 1982,Section 4.4.
