Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis through contact with patients during ambulance transport who were infectious or suspected to be infectious with tuberculosis. At least fifteen employees were not provided with Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) skin tests for tuberculosis infection on an annual basis. a feasible method to control this hazard is the implementation of tracking methods and follow-up contacts for those employees who fail to show up for scheduled PPD test dates.
