Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: Employees working from the Aerial Manlift(s) were exposed to injuries from falls due to the lack of fall protection as required by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI A92.5- 1992) Standard for Boom Supported Elevated Work Platforms. a. On or about July 6, 2001, at the jobsite located at 601 E. 43rd Street, Chicago, Illinois 60653, an employee working from a Grove Manlift, Model MZ66B Serial Number #45554, was not tied off while operating a manlift approximately 25 feet to 30 feet above ground level. A Feasible and useful means of abatement includes, but is not limited to the following action: 1. Ensure that all employees who work in an aerial lift are provided with and use a safety harness and lanyard which is correctly donned and used according to the manufacturer's recommendations.o/ J (y (y J p\
