Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: Billing and Collecting Office, Records Storage Room - employees worked at mentioned area where illumination levels were as low as 0.3 foot/candles at the passageway areas of lesser illumination, being exposed to the hazard of reading and walking with a low illumination that can cause visual fatigue when identifying records to retrieve to the office area, and/or can cause falls when walking at the area. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to provide at each passageway an average illumination level of 20 foot/candles or better as recommended by the American National Standard Institute for storage areas on the standard for Industrial Lighting RP-7. Oficina de Facturacion y Cobro, Cuarto de Almacenaje de Expedientes - empleados trabajaban en el area mencionada donde los niveles de iluminacion eran tan bajos como 0.3 pie/bujias en las areas de pasillos de menor iluminacion, siendo expuestos al riesgo de leer y caminar con una iluminacion baja que podria causar fatiga visual al identificar expedientes que sacaban al area de oficina y/o de caidas al caminar por el area. Entre otros metodos, un metodo de correccion factible y aceptable es el proveer en cada pasillo una iluminacion promedio de 20 pie/bujias o mejor segun recomendado por el American National Standard Institute para areas de almacenaje en el estandar "Industrial Lighting RP-7".ng
