Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were working in a self propelled extendible boom aerial lift and were not utilizing an appropriate fall arrest system. De Kalb jobsite. Carpenters performing framing operations from an aerial lift approximately 17 feet from grade, were not utilizing fall protection. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American National Standards Institute, ANSI A92.5-1992 Standard for Boom-supported Elevating Work Platforms and, 1.Require employees to utilize fall arrest systems anytime they are in an aerial lift. NO CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM.
