Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: (a) Fox 53 television station jobsite: Employees were being hoisted to heights of approximately 660 feet above ground level while attached directly to the hook of the DP base mounted drum hoist attached to a trailer. In addition, no inspection records were available for the DP base mounted drum hoist. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to perform frequent and periodic inspections of the hoist and to utilize a personnel platform.
