General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being crushed by falling loads: (a) Warehouse area; On or about 06-10-02, the steel frame racks were not anchored to prevent movement, the racks were not equipped with plaques indicating their rated load capacities, thereby exposing employees to crushing hazards in the event of a steel rack collapse. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to anchor the steel racks, install plaques indicating the load capacities of the racks and provide scales in order to weigh materials prior to placing them on the racks.g
