Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were exposed to fall hazards while working on the top of railcars prior to loading operations at the Grafton Farmers Co-op Grain Company Elevator. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to have a qualified person(s) design and install an adequate fall protective system. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement Certification Letter").tion

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were exposed to potential fall, amputation and crushing hazards for the electric manlift did not have adequate interlocks or other devices which would lock the platform door(s) shut when the elevator car was away from the platform. (b) Employees were exposed to potential amputation and crushing hazards for the electric manlift did not have adequate interlocks or other devices present which would terminate the movement of the elevator car when the elevator car door was opened. (c) Employees were exposed to potential amputation and crushing hazards for the electric manlift did not have adequate interlocks or other devices present which would prevent the movement of the elevator car when the platform door(s) was open. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to comply with 1965 Elevator Code, American National Standard Institute A17.1. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement Certification Letter").tion
