Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a), Annotated Code of Maryland: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:02/20/01 Location:Townhouse Unit B Condition:Employees working in a two story wood frame townhouse removed the temporary braces used to support the exterior first floor walls before the structure was permanently supported. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the design and installation recommendations for temporary bracing as designed by the registered professional engineer as shown in drawing SP-2 "Safety Procedures" from the blueprints on these homes. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
