Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to struck-by and crushing injuries when a pair of saw horses failed and completely collapsed under the load of a bundle of siding hoisted by a crane: Job Site: Roof of Administration Building. Employees were in danger of being struck by a load of siding hoisted by a crane when the bundle was released onto a pair of saw horses which collapsed under the load. One method of abatement, among others, would be to eliminate the saw horses and place the loads on boards laying directly on the roof.tly
