Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Unexpected restarting of machinery upon restoration of power after a power source failure, leading to possible injuries from rotating parts and points of operation. (a) Machine Room- provisions were not made to prevent industrial machinery, 2 router tables, a drill press/mill, and a belt sander, from automatically restarting upon restoration of power, after a power source failure. Among others, one method of abatement is to equip the machinery with electrical devices that are designed to prevent automatic restart after power has been restored to the required level for machinery operation, as prescribed in NFPA-79, Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).s
