General-duty citation text
Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling from the manbasket/work platform: On or about 10/16/01, an employee was using a man basket to replace the antenna on the west side of the tower. The employee was standing on the midrail of the basket holding the antenna, exposing the employee to the hazard of falling and being injured from hitting the rails and parts of the tower under the basket. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to position the basket/work platform as needed to perform the job where the employee does not have to work while standing outside of the basket/work platform. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
