Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) On or about 2/12/2002, an employee operated an Exmark lawn mower on a slope greater than 15 degrees, exposing the employee to the hazard of being crushed, trapped or thrown in the event of a roll over. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to train employees to follow the operator's manual for equipment they may be allowed to operate. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
