North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a trip/fall hazard. a)job site - employee(s) were allowed to walk or step on turning rollers or wheels of a conveyor system without standard handrailings or a suitable means such as tread plates which can be used between the rollers as a walking surface for designated operators in the performance of their duties. standard railing(s). One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to install tread plates or a bridge with standard handrailings and adequate clearance above the rollers to provide for boxes to pass by and employees to crossover from each side of the conveyor safely.
