North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)throughout facility, shop made, below-the-hook lifting devices, used by employees, did not meet requirements of ANSI/ASME B30.20, for design, inspection, load rate testing, marking, maintenance and operation. Among other methods of abatement, a registered professional engineer designated to design, inspect, load test, and mark the lifting devices with identification, load capacities, weight, and serial numbers. Reference: ANSI/ASME B30.20
