Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Production area - provisions were not made to prevent industrial machinery, including but not limited to, the bandsaw and the Craftsman table saw from automatically restarting upon restoration of power following a power failure. Among others, one method of abatement is to equip the machinery with an electrical device that is designed to prevent automatic restart after power has been restored to required operating levels, as prescribed in NFPA-79, Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, Section 8. Abatement certification only is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).s

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Production area - the motor starter for the Craftsman table saw was not protected against unexpected or accidental activation. Among others, one method of abatement to eliminate this hazard would be to install and utilize a starter control that would prevent unexpected or accidental activation, as prescribed in the American National Standard for Woodworking Machinery, ANSI O1.1-1975 or later edition. Abatement certification only is requested for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).s
