were exposed to:
a.At the Niigata molding machine, a 1000 pound, 115 volt electric winch
Dayton Model
5W659, which was designed for pulling applications, was being used to lift
molds
weighing up to 500 pounds into and out of the molding machine thereby
exposing
employees to a struck-by hazard.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct
this hazard
include, but are not limited to, the following:
a.Follow the manufacturer's instructions in the owners manual and product
catalog
which states that the Dayton Model 5W659 electric winch is designed for
pulling.
b.Utilize equipment appropriate for lifting molds into and out of the
Niigata
molding machine.
