Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to a crush injury:
On or about 10/1/02
Location: 100 Hillside Avenue, Greenburgh, NY 10603
a)An employee was observed riding on the bucket of a Skid Steer Loader
model L-555
(Deluxe) while in operation.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THE HAZARD IS TO:
1)Develop, implement and enforce company safety rules addressing the safe
operation
of Skid Steer Loaders L-555.
2)Retrain employees on the safe operation of Skid Steer Loaders L-555 as
stipulated in
the operator's manual.
NOTE: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this
item in
accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
