Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The hazards of radiation exposure while operating the x-ray diffraction machine that was equipped with improperly operating shutter controls. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to repair the automic shutter control unit to meet original manufacturers specifications. ___Abatement certification or documentation is not required for this item. _X_Abatement certification is required for this item. ___Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item. ___Warning tag (or citation copy) required on this equipment before moving.
