Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being injured by unintentional machine operation: a) The foot pedal mechanisms on the following machines were not equipped with guarding devices to prevent unintentional operation: AMP-O-LECTRIC, Model K, Terminating Machine, Serial #090733 AMP-O-LECTRIC, Model K, Terminating Machine, Serial #29860 Molex, TM 40, Serial #1454 Molex, TM 42, Serial #291 One feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to comply with the manufacturer's instructions for guarding the components of the machinery. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
