General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by a falling load: a.Site - When raising the roof section, the roof was picked from only two points, not four as indicated by the manufacturer. This could lead to failure of the main 2X6 running along the roof section, and loss of the load. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to follow the instruction provided by the manufacturer, which states, in part: "Raise roof by attaching slings at four (4) quarter points around main roof continuous 2X6."
