Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) An employee of Lides Industries was welding a storage tank from a height of 10 feet on an aluminium ladder that was submerged in 6 to 8 inches of water. Hazards: Falls from evevation, Fractures, Electrocution, Contusions, Death. Among other methods, one feasible amd exceptable abatement method to correct these hazards are to provide an aerial lift to employees so that exposures to fall hazards and electrocution are controled or eliminated.on
