furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause serious physical harm to employees in that
employees were
exposed to a tripping hazard:
a)In the warehouse, on or about 10/12/01:  Employees picking fill orders
are
stepping across a powered roller conveyor in an effort to retrieve stock.
The
conveyor is approximately 90 feet in length, ranges in height from 18
inches
to 21 inches and is 17.5 inches wide.
Among other methods, two feasible and acceptable methods to correct this
hazard
are to:
1.Provide an employee on both sides of the conveyor belt to pick and place
stock from their respective sides.
2.Provide cross over stairs at locations along the length of the conveyor
and
ensure employees use them when going from one side of the conveyor to the
other.
Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
