recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that an employee
was exposed to A FIRE AND/OR EXPLOSION HAZARD:
a)At 14841 Lake Street, Fair Haven, New York, on or about 04/17/02:  An
employee was using an electric winch mounted to the front bumper of a
service truck to remove a 250 gallon ASME propane tank from a customers
yard.  The tank contained approximately 40liquid propane.
Among other methods, several feasible and acceptable abatement methods to
correct
this hazard are:
1.Evacuate the tank prior to movement using Krug compressors and hoses.
2.Utilize a motorized ASME tank dolly, such as the EZTC695 model sold by
Renaldo Sales & Service, Inc.
3.Train employees regarding tank moving as referenced in NFPA 58, 6-5.2.1
(a)-(d).
Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
