Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to broken bones due to hazards of falling from a height of approximately 31 feet high while employees worked in an extended Genie Z 45/25, telescopic boom aerial lift without any fall arrest equipment, on or about 6/20/02. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide body harnesses with lanyards that can be connected to the basket of the Genie Z 45/25. Reference: Vehicle Mounted Elevating and Rotating Work Platforms, ANSI A92.2-1969.
