Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1):  The employer did not furnish
employment and a place of
employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees:
The employer failed to ensure an employee was protected while riding the
side step of a John
Deere 310D Backhoe Loader as follows:
a.At the north side of the building, an employee was observed being
transported on
the side step of a John Deere 310D Backhoe Loader, exposing the employee to
the hazard of being crushed and/or run over.
Reference Operator's Manual: Page 05-8, KEEP RIDERS OFF MACHINE.  Only
allow
the operator on the machine.  Keep riders off.  Riders on machine are
subject to injury
such as being struck by foreign objects and being thrown off of the
machine.  Riders also
obstruct the operator's view resulting in the machine being operated in an
unsafe manner.
One feasible means of abatement is to make sure the operator has read and
follows the
manufacturers operation manual.on
