Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a falling hazard. a) Warehouse: Yale fork lift, Serial #E807N307 was not provided with an appropriate safety platform to access upper storage shelving, exposing employee(s) to a fall. Violation observed on or about 7/26//01 AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO UTILIZE ONLY PLATFORMS DESIGNED FOR USE IN ELEVATING PERSONNEL WITH FORKLIFTS. THESE PLATFORMS MUST MEET THE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN ANSI/ASME B56.1- 1993.
