employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were causing or likely
to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees
were exposed to rotating parts of
auger blade.
a- Papetti Plaza/Production Egg Breaking Machines:   Adequate procedures
and equipment were not
provided to ensure that employees were not exposed to rotation parts of
machinery, during the 3rd
shift machine cleaning operation.
One feasible and effective method to abate the condition is, but not
limited to:
1- Provide a uniform procedure that addresses all of the hazards
associated with the cleaning
operation and the specific safety steps to follow to prevent employee
exposure to them.
Example:  Slow speed, lockout, machine guarding, chute cleaning, specific
steps to clean
double deck machine, etc.
2- Designate personnel who will be responsible for training and provide
uniform training for
all exposed employees.
3- Provide enforcement to ensure that the procedures and training are
followed.
4- Provide procedures to ensure that all equipment, devices, etc., that
are required for the
cleaning operation are adequate for the operation.   Example:  Ladders.
