Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: hazard of being thrown from operator's station, in that, operators were not using and/or wearing seatbelts when operating powered industrial trucks. a- Warehouse. Employees were operating forklifts installed with seatbelts without wearing them. Observed on 1/24/03. One feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to enforce the use of seat belts during forklift truck operations.
