Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: a) Seton Hall Law Building, Newark, NJ. Employee(s) engaged in window cleaning activities were exposed to fall hazards up to 85 feet. Employee(s) were not adequately trained in the proper/safe use of all fall protection equipment provided them nor did the employer adequately supervise the use of the equipment to insure that the safe working practices were observed. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to comply with ASME/ANSI A39.1-1991, or IWCA I-14.1- 2001. Violation observed on or about 08/01/01/.
