General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)Employees who, were required to perform work under the conveyors, or in close proximity to the conveyors, were exposed to the hazard of entanglement in the moving parts of the conveyor, and or moving parts of the equipment in the vicinity of the conveyor, in that the employees were permitted to wear loose clothing and their hair was loose while engaged in the work. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is the implementation of a policies and procedures prohibiting the wear of loose clothing and hair in proximity to moving parts of conveyors and other equipment.
