Title 40.1-51.1.(a), Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a) At this job site, employees were exposed to impalement hazards, while working over and adjacent to approximately 8 un-protected metal conduits, onto and into which employees could fall on or come against and which were protruding 9 to 15 in. above the floor. "ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD, AMONG OTHERS, TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO INSTALL PLASTIC RE BAR CAPS OR EQUIVALENT PROTECTION ON PROTRUDING CONDUITS".
