August 5th, 2001, 1 shift employees exposed to being trapped between
powered industrial trucks
and the ground in the event of tipovers, driving off the docks and/or
driving out the back of
trailers that pull away from the docks:
(a)Employees were not required to utilize the seat belts on the power
industrial trucks they
operated at docks located in building E.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct this
hazard would be to
require and enforce the use of seat belts on powered industrial trucks, in
accordance with ASME
B56.1 of the American National Standard for Powered and Nonpowered
Industrial Trucks.
