Stat. 182.653 subd. 2: The employer did not furnish to each employee, conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards which caused or were likely to cause death or serious injury to employees; A home made chain sling, composed of 5/16" X 1" carbon steel chain and home made hooks, was being used to perform vertical lifts in lieu of an alloy steel chain sling. The chain was attached to a Milwaukee 1/2 ton hoist on the receiving end of the heat treating oven on the Tender Foot Line.
