Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of lawn mowers tipping over: a) Retention pond at Waldon Oaks Place and Alexander Street - An employee operated an Exmark riding lawn mower on a slope greater than 15 degrees, exposing the employee to the hazard of being crushed, trapped or thrown in the event of a roll over, on or about May 30, 2002. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to follow the manufacturer's operator's manual and label adhered to the mower to prohibit employees from operating this type of equipment on slopes greater than 15 degrees. ABATEMENT VERIFICATION REQUIREDTION
