Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:06/04/02 Location:Latex Storage Area Condition:Personal eyewash bottles provided for employees using caustic soda were not capable of providing 1.5 liters of flushing fluid per minute (0.4 gallon per minute) for 15 minutes. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install an eyewash facility which meets the requirements of American National Standard for Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment Z358.1-1981. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
