Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm: (a)The employee engaged in repairing a bus transmission lifted a bus which weighed in excess of the rated load capacity. The rated load capacity of the four post drive on lift was 27,000 pounds and the bus raised weighed approximately 27,752 pounds. (b)The employee engaged in repairing a bus transmission which exceeded the rated load capacity of the lift had not received lift training and instructions as required in the owner's manual. Among other feasible and accepted methods to correct the hazard is to use an automotive lift which exceeds the load as required by ANSI/ALI B153.1-1990 for Automotive Lifts-Safety Requirements for the Construction, Care and Use and the Automotive Lift Institute Safety Manual.te
