Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees
in that
employees were exposed to electrical hazards and/or the hazard of caught
between:
(a)Central Plains Farms Inc., 806 West 8th Ave., Yuma, CO 80759:  On July
24, 2002 the employer did not ensure procedures were followed to ensure
energy isolation when employees were engaged in maintenace activities.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard
is to:
(1)Utilize locks and other devices to prevent access to the energy source.
(2)Perform periodic inspections to ensure employees are following
established company lockout/tagout procedures.
(3)Provide training to ensure employees are aware of established company
lockout/tagout procedures.
