Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees on 02/11/03: Employees were exposed to being struck by a collapsing truss system in that the trusses were held together by 1 x 3 spacers and were not braced correctly to prevent their collapse. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the installation recommendations for temporary bracing of roof trusses by the Truss Plate Institute's HIB-91.
