Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: The employer failed to ensure that a portable circular rip-saw was used in accordance with manufacture's operating instructions: a.At the Granite Fabrication shop, a portable corded Skilsaw, model HD77M, was used to cut granite slabs while using a wet diamond wheel. The employer had attached a water line to the point of the cutting operation. Employees were exposed to potential electrocution and shock. REFERENCE: Skil HD Operating/Safety Instructions page #10: "Warning! This machine is not intended to be used with Wet Diamond Wheels. Using water or other liquid coolants with this machine may result in electrocution or shock." One feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to ensure operators reference the Operating Instruction and adhere to the warnings of the machine manufacturer.
