North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to vehicular traffic: a)job site - traffic signs were not posted where employees were exposed to vehicular traffic in a work zone. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to provide and require employees to post traffic signs in work zones indicating "Survey Crew Ahead", "Work Zone", "Work Ahead", or other messages; to indicate the presence of employee's work zones to alert oncoming motorist before work is commenced. (Reference: Part VI of the manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) 1988 Edition of MUTCD, Revision 3, September 3, 1993).ber
