North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)facility, behind oven area - where employees used a Jet 1/2 ton hoist with pendant attached to a structural timber as an overhead hoist, to remove metal pins, weighing approximately 50lbs, from rolls of manufactured abrasive fabric. Abatement note: 1. One feasible and acceptable method, among others, is to load rate the structure to ensure that the structure can withstand the load capacity. 2. Implement frequently and regular inspection of the hoist and chain assemblies prior to work being performed.
