Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall of 15 feet: a)Warehouse: A secured safety platform was not used when the forklift truck was used to elevate employees when unloading merchandise, on 06/19/02. Note: Among others feasible and acceptable abatement methods would be to: 1.Provide a "safety platform" used in accordance with ANSI B56.1 1975, Part III- Section 513, or equivalent protection. 2.Provide a scaffold or solid construction from which to load and unload merchandise.
