North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and
Health Act of North
Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of
employment and a
place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
a)establishment, it that all SIG Elettric 80's Laser Guided Vehicles were
not
equipped with a distinctive backup alarm from that of the forward alarm,
and
b)establishment, in that all SIG Elettric 80's Laser Guided Vehicles were
not
equipped with warning alarms that operated in ether direction while in
manual
mode.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard is to rewrite the programing for these vehicles, so that the
alarm
systems would omit several tones distinctive backup alarm from that of the
forward alarm, and both alarms function while under manual mode.
