Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: Hickory Grade Road jobsite: On or about 04/01/03 employees were setting 72 ft. wide, 3 1/2 pitched wooden/metal plate roof trusses in high wind conditions, which were not laterally braced properly and no vertical bracing was being utilized to support the trusses. As a result, the trusses collapsed causing the two workers to fall 26 feet to the ground. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to follow the manufacturer's installation instructions and the Truss Plate Institute Handbook for Handling, Installing and Bracing metal plate connected wood trusses, HIB-91, dated 1991
