Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were working in a self propelled extendible boom aerial lift and were not utilizing an appropriate fall arrest system. Nationwide Erectors - Employees working in a pair of self-propelled extendible aerial lifts approximately 20 feet above grade were not utilizing fall protection. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American National Standards Institute, ANSI A92.5-1992 Standard for Boom-supported Elevating Work Platforms that require employees to wear fall arrest anytime that they are in aerial lifts.
